We identified >100 business problems from 13 online communities with >640.000 members.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Ready to solve community-validated business problems for gaming content creators?

For this issue, we studied 13 online communities of gaming content creators with >640.000 members and identified >100 problems. Below is a curated list of the 4 problems we found most appealing.

We organize the main part into problem categories with a specific problem and a potential solution. We add an attractiveness rating from 1 to 5 for the problems and solutions. Of course, the last part is quite subjective. That's why we provide a short explanation for our rating. At the very end, you find the list of communities we studied, the full list of problems we've encountered, and community insights.

We are always happy to receive feedback or requests for future topics, so feel free to contact us at matthias@communityvalidated.

Hope you enjoy this report and looking forward to hearing from you,

๐Ÿค” Problems looking for Solutions

โš–๏ธ Copyright Issues

Problem: Many creators fear being sued for copyright infringements.

Solution: Crowdfunding platform for legal advice for creators.

Attractiveness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ This problem appears frequently but getting expert advice on such questions is too expensive for creators. The solution would be to find specific legal questions that a large number of creators struggle with and crowdfund expert advice on them. What needs clarification: are there legal problems one could run into when attempting this?

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป Platform Algorithms

Problem: Itโ€™s unclear to creators how platform algorithms distribute their content.

Solution: Provide up-to-date advice from domain experts on how to exploit platform algorithms.

Attractiveness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ We think this problem is pretty tough. The first difficulty lies in finding the right experts that can, and are willing to, provide advice. After all, nobody (maybe not even the platforms themselves) knows how their algorithms really work. Further, how could one monetize this solution? Creators might not have enough budget for this. However, the problem is super interesting and valuable to solve, we just donโ€™t see a viable solution yet.

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Game Recommendations

Problem: Creators are always looking for yet unknown games that might blow up.

Solution: Uncover trends early on by crawling social media platforms to discover trends in games and game genres.

Attractiveness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ For game streamers, discovering trends early on can be a career changer. One could provide insights from social media activities on trends in gaming and the surrounding culture. The challenge is to validate whether one could actually spot trends early on with the available data (social listening?).

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Thumbnails

Problem: Creating high-converting thumbnails is hard for YouTubers.

Solution: Unbundling Canva: offer customizable templates for high converting thumbnails.

Attractiveness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ Canva enabled everyone to become a generalist-designer. However, for specific niches, Canva is too generic. One such niche is thumbnail design for Gaming-YouTubers. Turning them into thumbnail designers by unbundling Canva might be a great business opportunity.
